delicate love (flower illustration, photography)
![]()
this is a piece I just finished entitled “delicate love.”
It is made up of snippets from a photograph I took at Magnolia Plantation (Charleston, South Carolina).
The idea behind it was to use graphic design and illustration to piece together a collage of a flower and show how love in this culture can be slapped on anything. The irony of this collage is the earnestness that it commands; this is something that a young girl would make for the one she loves. This earnestness that exists in the face of the tongue in cheek nature of the placement of love is the divide that our culture has to parse (parse: sorry, I’ve been working with computers too much recently).
