Gesture Controlled TV? The Cool, Lazy Equivalent to the Clapper!

2 June 2009 277 views No Comment

Aren’t remotes so burdensome? Well Canesta agrees! They’ve created a motion-based system that helps consumers fly through television programming literally with a flick of the wrist. Apparently this technology won’t just be used for couch potatoes, but will include applications to medical, robotic, security, and automotive industries.

Canesta’s value proposition isn’t just its technology’s power, but also a low cost. They are able to do this through relatively inexpensive CMOS-based 3-D sensor technology that stands alone in its field as being able to interpret motion in extremely dark and bright atmospheres, regardless of distracting backgrounds.
