The Transformation of the Newspaper
As Justin Pontin notes in his recent article “A Manifesto,” the atmosphere around the newspaper industry has changed dramatically. The characteristics of a person representing a journalist have been through a journey of their own adopting into their ranks the likes of “excitable 14-year-olds,” among bloggers of all shapes and sizes. The landscape has changed, and newspapers are trying to cope with new methods of serving content and collecting money.
Among these changes includes The New York Times’ “Times Reader 2.0.” This Adobe Air Application allows users to interact with their subscription news content through a weekly subscription fee just shy of $4.
